None of these items are essential. I know the vast majority of the world doesn’t get to enjoy such luxuries and I readily acknowledge my privilege. I also want to state upfront that I prioritize experiences over consumer items. Yet there are some consumer items that have made life easier or better for me on a day-to-day basis.
I’m happy you have a great life with these things. For anyone aspiring to live the same in the coming year, I have (very roughly) estimated you would need about $20,000 to hand, probably much more depending on the international travel bit.
From experience, I know that rich Americans can be very generous in their charitable giving, and I hope that is their unsung 11th luxury item. And as they, as we, realise quickly that our personal carbon emissions must fall to zero, that their 12th luxury becomes their top priority, sustainable living.
